She may not be Bill Clinton, but she is definitely one of the most important people in the field of sexuality.  Dr. Patti Britton is the Immediate Past President of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT).  www.aasect.org. Past President’s of AASECT read like the “Who’s Who” of sexuality professionals.  AASECT is the leading organization that certifies sex therapists throughout the world.  As I was thinking about the honor of having Dr. Britton appear on our show, I couldn’t help but think back to the elation I felt the day I learned that my 75 page application to become an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist was approved by the certification committee.  In addition to adherence to a strict code of ethics, AASECT Certified Sex Therapists are required to meet a long list of educational, experiential and clinical requirements.  Few people are better equipped to discuss any sexual concern than Certified Sex Therapist, Dr. Patti Britton.  I hope you will join us for what promises to be an excellent show.  For more about the show: www.sexandintimacyshow.com.   To learn more about Dr. Patti Britton: http://www.yoursexcoach.com/

Hard Days, Soft Nights…

As men’s age goes up, some uncooperative penises go down.  As we age sex can often be different.  Not necessarily better or worse, just different.  I had an older couple in my office today who are learning to redefine what sex looks like for them as they age.  I couldn’t help but think of my two favorite bulls here in the majestic foothills of Colorado. There was an old bull and a young bull.  They stood together looking down at a herd of well groomed heifers.  The young bull declared, “I’m going to run down there and get me one of them cows.”  The old bull thoughtfully replied, “I’m going to walk down and get them all.”  The moral of the story for our aging population; less can be more!

Male Enhancement Products; Do They Really Work?

On August 2, 2009, in Uncategorized, by drneilcannon1

Rarely does a day pass that somebody doesn’t ask me about those little pills that promise to make the penis gain colossal size, strength and control.  Some of the offers are so compelling that potential buyers of the products might expect their new and improved penis to leap tall buildings in a single bound.  After all, if “gazillions” of pills have been sold they must work, right?  Let’s ask ourselves these two questions: 1) If they work, why don’t more men have seven inch penies, and 2)  Are there any peer reviewed scientific journal articles that support the efficacy of these products?  I haven’t seen such a study however I would love for somebody to send me one.  Until then, only you can decide if male enhancement products will make your snake morph into a serpent, or if these magic pills are more like modern day snake oil.

Delayed ejaculation — no need to wait any longer…

On January 16, 2009, in Uncategorized, by drneilcannon1

It is 12:51AM and the fire alarm in my Denver high-rise is screaming; “fool, jump before you die a miserable death.”  My little black cat, the real Dr. Kinsey has left the warmth of our cashmere comforter and is hiding under the bed.  Three big rig fire trucks are here to save us with sirens howling.  Me, I am doing what every other red blooded American man would be doing in this situation, blogging about delayed ejaculation (formerly known as retarded ejaculation).  Thanks to the pharmacutical companies most everyone knows about erectile dysfunction and “premature ejaculation,” now known as early ejaculation.  Fewer people know about delayed ejaculation (DE) because there are no little pills to fix it.  And the problem is that DE is every bit as emotionally painful as the more common sexual concerns previously mentioned.  I can’t tell you how many men have told me they feel broken because the can’t ejaculate and say, “Doc, I’m so screwed up, I can’t even cum.”  As for their partner, they usually feel inadequate saying, “I’m not good enough for him to even cum inside me.”  The truth is that many men of all ages suffer from DE.  DE can be physiological, but more frequently it is psychological. In any event it is generally treatable.  Everything has a bright side, and my hope from this midnight fire drill is that men who suffer from DE will know they are not alone.  Like the fire department, help is on the way.  www.doctorcannon.com

Fighting the war against erectile difficulties…

On December 28, 2008, in Uncategorized, by drneilcannon1

I get a lot of questions about ED.  This is hardly surprising since it is estimated that ED effects up to 30 million men in the United States each year.  Little did I know however that Viagra is used by the CIA as a secret weapon in the war against the Taliban.  Apparently our best spies regularly bribe Afghan war lords with the little blue pill instead of cash and other favored commodities.  Whether you are having erectile difficulties, early ejaculation, or delayed ejaculation, please take comfort knowing that each condition is generally treatable with no guns or weapons required!  www.doctorcannon.com
