Hard times can make for soft penises…

Nobody comes into my office and says, “Hey Doc, I just lost my life savings and my erection is better than ever.” The truth is that stress can negatively impact erections but so can a lot of other things.  More than one-third of American men between 40 to 70 experience erectile difficulties (ED).  That’s 20 million men!  The great thing is that there is a lot you can do to improve the situation.  If you are on medication, talk to your doc and see if your meds could be the culprit.  If so, there are generally alternatives that are more penis-friendly.  Exercise more.  It’s all about your cardiovascular system and blood flow.  If you smoke, stop yesterday. Not only do cigarettes make your mouth taste like an ashtray but they will soften your erection as well and ultimately make your penis shrink down to the size of a baby carrot.  Viagra, Cialis and Levitra may be options for you as well.  Many GP’s are not aware of the 2.5 MG dose of everyday Cialis so you might want to talk to your MD about that as an option (less side affects and you are always ready).  Your diet and vitamins can also have an impact.  There is a really good book called “The Hardness Factor” that has lots of details about how diet and vitamins can make for a harder and happier penis.  The bottom line is that most couples don’t have to settle for softness.

She may not be Bill Clinton, but she is definitely one of the most important people in the field of sexuality.  Dr. Patti Britton is the Immediate Past President of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT).  www.aasect.org. Past President’s of AASECT read like the “Who’s Who” of sexuality professionals.  AASECT is the leading organization that certifies sex therapists throughout the world.  As I was thinking about the honor of having Dr. Britton appear on our show, I couldn’t help but think back to the elation I felt the day I learned that my 75 page application to become an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist was approved by the certification committee.  In addition to adherence to a strict code of ethics, AASECT Certified Sex Therapists are required to meet a long list of educational, experiential and clinical requirements.  Few people are better equipped to discuss any sexual concern than Certified Sex Therapist, Dr. Patti Britton.  I hope you will join us for what promises to be an excellent show.  For more about the show: www.sexandintimacyshow.com.   To learn more about Dr. Patti Britton: http://www.yoursexcoach.com/

Hard Days, Soft Nights…

As men’s age goes up, some uncooperative penises go down.  As we age sex can often be different.  Not necessarily better or worse, just different.  I had an older couple in my office today who are learning to redefine what sex looks like for them as they age.  I couldn’t help but think of my two favorite bulls here in the majestic foothills of Colorado. There was an old bull and a young bull.  They stood together looking down at a herd of well groomed heifers.  The young bull declared, “I’m going to run down there and get me one of them cows.”  The old bull thoughtfully replied, “I’m going to walk down and get them all.”  The moral of the story for our aging population; less can be more!

Male Enhancement Products; Do They Really Work?

On August 2, 2009, in Uncategorized, by drneilcannon1

Rarely does a day pass that somebody doesn’t ask me about those little pills that promise to make the penis gain colossal size, strength and control.  Some of the offers are so compelling that potential buyers of the products might expect their new and improved penis to leap tall buildings in a single bound.  After all, if “gazillions” of pills have been sold they must work, right?  Let’s ask ourselves these two questions: 1) If they work, why don’t more men have seven inch penies, and 2)  Are there any peer reviewed scientific journal articles that support the efficacy of these products?  I haven’t seen such a study however I would love for somebody to send me one.  Until then, only you can decide if male enhancement products will make your snake morph into a serpent, or if these magic pills are more like modern day snake oil.

Penis Size is Shrinking in America….

I regularly get clients who are concerned about their penis size.  Not surprisingly, as Internet porn grows, an increasing number of men think their own penises are too small.  After all, porn is the primary source where many men get their ideas about what erect penises look like.  Hence, the average guy doesn’t feel like he measures up.  Think about it.  How many heterosexual males have seen another man’s erect penis?  Not many.  Porn stars are carefully selected for the size of their equipment.  Some porn stars may not be able to count to 11 without taking their pants off, however if size is king, porn stars own the thrown.  Porn stars also take Viagra or Cialis prior to shooting (no pun intended) which enables them to be rigidly hard for long periods of time.  What Joe the plumber needs to know is that the average erect penis, when measured scientifically (from the top of the pubic bone to the end of the penis) is 5.1 to 5.7 inches long.  Most importantly, women don’t care how big you are.  What women care about is your heart and your soul.  Trust me, focus on being the skilled, passionate and giving lover that every man has the potential to be and everything else will take care of itself.  For more information about penis size, check out the documentary, “My Penis and I” http://www.mypenisandeveryoneelses.com/index.php?id=3            www.doctorcannon.com
