BDSM

Dr. Neil is known internationally for his clinical expertise and research on Bondage & Discipline, Dominance & Submission, Sadism & Masochism (BDSM).  In addition to helping countless individuals and couples with BDSM related issues, Neil has appeared as an expert witness on the subject of BDSM and is a published author on the topic as well.  Neil regularly teaches clinicians of all levels how to provide sex-positive treatment to members of the kink and BDSM community.

My doctoral dissertation was “A Psychological Assessment of BDSM Practitioners,” and my dissertation chair and academic mentor was Charles Moser, Ph.D., M.D. Dr. Moser is arguably the world’s leading researcher and author on the subject of BDSM, a man who influenced my work greatly.

When it comes to couples and BDSM, the number one problem that couples bring to me for counseling is related to having different preferences.  A scenario I see frequently is where one person longs for BDSM and their partner has little or no interest.  Honoring each person’s erotic template equally, I take a strength based approach to help partners collaborate on solutions.

Even if I am not accepting new clients, if BDSM is the primary reason for therapy, I will try to get you in if that is your preference.  Otherwise, I have several excellent clinicians that I have taught, trained, supervised or mentored.

Here I’m discussing BDSM as the featured guest on “In the Den With Dr. Jenn.”

Many people travel to Denver from different parts of the country to work with me on BDSM. If you intend to do that, we can organize extended sessions and help you with convenient lodging, etc.
